“A good dog never dies. He always stays. He walks beside you on crisp autumn days when frost is on the fields and winter’s drawing near. His head is within our hand in his old way”

Lothario Dell'albera Silver Pastori CGC
1/16/2005-10/23/2017
Lothario began his life in PA and then travelled to Nova Scotia to live on my farm. We moved back to the USA in 2008 and he saw me through various homes, jobs and two husbands. He saw me through step-motherhood, various other Bergamascos and eventually full circle to a farm once again. Through it all, he was my constant. Lothario had an amazingly cheerful disposition. He never had a bad day. Even on the day of his passing, he was trying his best. He fathered over 30 puppies in his lifetime. He is survived by a family of humans and Bergamascos who miss him terribly. I still look for him on the farm where he spent his last year of life. One of our best years together. I see him daily in the smile of his daughter Anthea. This one puppy changed the direction of my life forever. He guided me to my truest passion. I am forever grateful for his gift.

Chique Soave Classic Mezzanotte
11/16/2006-8/3/2019
Mezza was the kindest and most gentle dog I have ever known. She lived to love and to be loved. Her demeanor made it possible to bring her anywhere, including restaurants and vineyards. She came from Reyna Knight in England as a puppy and lived with me in Nova Scotia for most of my time there. She grew up on my farm. She and Lothario were very close and together they produced Alp Angel's first litter and the first Bergamasco litter in Atlantic Canada. Mezza loved children and was a wonderful nanny to our growing girls. They were very lucky to grow up with a dog like Mezza who would tolerate hours of dress up and games and Mezza was very lucky for the attention. She lived a long and wonderful life. She passed away while our L litter was being whelped, her great great grandpups. It was a very difficult day but she left us with her legacy, as it continues. In her own way, it was her final gift to us as she said, go on and take care of those little ones and be happy. She was kind even in her last moments. You will always be etched into my heart Mezza, for as long as I live.

Alp Angel's Anthea
7/23/2007-2020
Anthea was born in Nova Scotia from my first Bergamasco litter. She was the daughter of Lothario and Mezza. Anthea was a petite female full of self confidence and was always ready to be part of any adventure. Anthea loved all people, children and cats. She like her parents, was very tolerant of children and loved being part of their play. Anthea loved living on our farm and being around the farm animals. She gave birth to over 20 puppies in her lifetime and was a wonderful mother with great instinct. She once stole an entire foot long sandwich from the kitchen and brought it to her whelping box for her one day old puppies. She cared about all the other dogs in the home and had a happy and joyful spirit about her. We are happy that we had her for so many years to love. She is missed always.

GCH Bergische Bergamasker Amira CGC F
2/25/2012-11/13/2025
Amira was a life changing dog. When we imported her from Germany from her breeder Frank Gottschalk , I was blacklisted from much of the Bergamasco community for importing a different line. Amira was more than a wonderful dog, she was the gatekeeper of my social circles. She weeded out so many toxic people in my life and at the same time, lead me to those I call my friends now. Amira was loyal beyond any dog I've ever known. I always said that she could walk off leash with me in NYC in a crowd and would never leave my side. She was a true partner. Im pretty sure no one could love me more than God, my mom and Amira. Joe might have something to say about that, but the song doesn't allow for a 4th person. Amira's contributions to our breeding program go beyond improving the overall health and structure of our dogs. She had two litters and for her first one she was bred to a male from the beginning of our maternal line. This allowed for 6 generations in our program. The real improvements all took place from Amira onward. She produced better than herself, and without her we would not have Faggia, Freya ( both WKC BOB winners ) Nova, Zora, Martensa and now Persy. We owe our program to her. Amira did not love showing but still found success. I was her handler exclusively so I take great pride in her BOS win at Westminster and her OH Best in Show. She became a champion and grand champion in a matter of a couple of weekends. At home Amira was a great farm dog. She was very good with livestock and birds. Her gentle nature made her a favorite among our chickens. Amira came to us the year Joe and I were married in 2012. She was very much part of Emmy and Ava's school years and she was there for all of us through various changes. She loved her whole family but she was very much " my girl". We had a deep bond that went beyond this realm. It was spiritual and telepathic. We had an understanding. She died peacefully in her bed, in our bedroom, where she slept every night. I hope she felt comforted in her routine and her surroundings. Most of all, I hope she knew how much we all loved her.
