CH Ussaro Polskie Kudlacze FDC

Ussaro came to us from Roza Palimaka in Poland and was my first imported male. He is a large, striking dog with a beautiful, substantial head and a light, easy coat.

As a younger dog, Ussaro loved to swim and remains the only Bergamasco I have ever known who could actually air dry within a few hours. His soft eyes say a great deal about him. He is an exceptionally gentle and kind dog, and that temperament has been one of the greatest gifts he has passed on to his offspring. Many of his progeny strongly resemble him, both in appearance and in character.

Ussaro is wonderfully social with other dogs, including intact males, and has always been especially good with puppies. He has often acted as a true nanny dog, keeping the whelping box warm, cleaning puppies, and even regurgitating food for them, giving their mother a much-needed break.

He also spent several years doing herding work and has always been a very capable all-around farm dog. He loves horses and small animals, with one notable exception: chickens. Chickens, apparently, are dinner.

Ussaro has been an enormous asset to our breeding program, particularly for the kindness and steadiness he consistently passes on, but more than that, he is a deeply loved member of our family.
